Stewart is Head of School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at HSU, and a Professor of Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology.

Biography

Stewart is Head of School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Health Sciences University, and a Professor of Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology. He is an HCPC registered sport and exercise psychologist, and BASES accredited sport and Exercise Scientist, with over 15 years’ experience as a consultant psychologist across a wide range of professional/ amateur sports, as well as across a broad range of performance domains. In addition, Stewart is a past chair of the British Psychological Society (BPS) Division of Sport and Exercise Psychology, and editor emeritus for the journal Case Studies in Sport and Exercise Psychology, as well as sitting on the editorial boards of a number of other journals.

In addition to extensive teaching experience Stewart has also supervised numerous doctoral research candidates, published extensively in the domain of applied sport and performance psychology and authored/edited a number of text books within his domain of expertise.

Current Activity

As Head of School, Stewart is responsible for the development and running of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in the areas of rehabilitation as well as psychology. He also overseas consultancy activity, short course provision and research focus within the School. Stewart is also a member of Health Sciences University’s Senior Management Group, as well as an active sport and performance psychology researcher.
