Martin is the Unit Leader for Professionalism within the UCO School of Osteopathy.

Biography

As Unit Leader and Lecturer in Professionalism for the UCO School of Osteopathy, Martin is dedicated to providing a high-quality, student-centred education with an emphasis on professional integrity, ethical practices, and patient-centred care. Drawing on his extensive experience in osteopathic practice, leadership, and management, he creates immersive learning experiences to prepare future practitioners who are both technically skilled and ethically grounded, ready to excel in the healthcare sector.

Martin’s career, which includes 21 years of NHS clinical and management experience, has been marked by a commitment to patient-centred care and evidence-based practice. A graduate of the British School of Osteopathy in 1997, Martin has cared for patients of all ages in diverse settings, including multidisciplinary clinics and osteopathy-led practices. His expertise combines these principles to promote pragmatic musculoskeletal health and well-being. In addition to his clinical work, Martin has held leadership roles in the osteopathic, NHS, school and charitable sectors, focusing on strategy, finance and governance. He has contributed to the osteopathic profession through teaching and board roles, including his involvement as a Board member of NCOR and in the merger of AECC and UCO to form the Health Sciences University. Currently, Martin holds a role at UCO School of Osteopathy as Unit Leader, where he mentors future osteopaths and develops educational programs aligned with the General Osteopathic Council’s Osteopathic Practice Standards.

In addition to his teaching role, Martin supervises students in the Research and Enquiry Unit, guiding them through the dissertation process and fostering critical thinking and academic inquiry.
