Biography

Oliver Thomson is Associate Professor and Doctoral Programme Leader at HSU.

Current Activity

Dr Oliver Thomson works as an Associate Professor where he leads the Doctoral Programme at the UCO School of Osteopathy at HSU. His main research interests are using qualitative methodologies to understand the clinical reasoning, beliefs and behaviours of health professionals and osteopaths and he has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles in these areas. Oliver also practices as an osteopath in London, where he works in a multidisciplinary clinic. He is also an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine. Finally, he is also host of The Words Matter Podcast where he has critical discussions with leading researchers, clinicians and philosophers on topics related to person-centred care, clinical communication, evidence-based practice and the biopsychosocial model.

Areas of interest include:

  • Using qualitative methodologies to understand the clinical reasoning, beliefs and behaviours of health professionals and osteopaths.
