Lecture on AI and Digital Technologies in Physiotherapy and Healthcare

We were proud to deliver a ground breaking and first of its kind session on ‘AI and Digital Technologies in Physiotherapy and Healthcare’ to our final-year physiotherapy students. This two-hour session highlighted emerging technologies in physiotherapy education and raised awareness of how AI and digital solutions are reshaping healthcare delivery.

As highlighted by Mahto et al. (2024), “physiotherapy education has undergone substantial changes as a result of the impact of AI-based technologies in clinical practice, better equipping professionals for the demands of the healthcare system of the twenty-first century.” This session was a direct response to this evolving landscape.

Led by Manoj (Manny) Patel, CEO of Merlin Health Group, the session offered students a deep dive into musculoskeletal rehabilitation with transformative digital health solutions that redefine patient care. This session was part of a collaborative project between Merlin Health and Health Sciences University, made possible through a successful Innovation Voucher Scheme. The partnership aims to foster awareness and encourage critical discussion through a series of seminars and workshops, engaging students with current AI-powered technologies and prompting exploration of their future implications in clinical practice.

Through these sessions, students are not only exposed to existing innovations but are also encouraged to envision how digital technologies may evolve and impact their future roles as physiotherapists. The initiative underlines a shared commitment to preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals to thrive in a rapidly changing digital world.
