HSU Welcomes New Postgraduate Research Students
Health Sciences University is pleased to have welcomed 11 new postgraduate research students, marking a significant step forward in growing our cohort of doctoral researchers.
Our new students come from various backgrounds and have chosen a mix of full-time and part-time study paths. Their projects span a wide breadth of research disciplines, including dietetics, speech & language therapy, musculoskeletal care, and psychology in sport rehabilitation, and the students are based between the HSU Bournemouth and HSU London campuses.
Student funding sources are diverse: two students have been awarded prestigious HSU Studentships through a competitive selection process, which will cover their living costs and tuition fees for three years.
Additionally, two students received HSU fee waivers, while two others secured studentships funded by external organisations, the Chiropractic Research Council and The Royal College of Chiropractors, which was based on the merit of the proposed research projects.
Dr. Julie Northam, Head of Research at Health Sciences University, commented: “We are delighted to have welcomed our new postgraduate research students to the HSU community. Postgraduate research students play a vital role in building and sustaining a research culture within universities.
“Their fresh ideas and perspectives push the boundaries of existing knowledge, while their collaborations with academic staff and fellow students encourage knowledge exchange, mentorship and cross-disciplinary insights.
“Furthermore, their work often crosses disciplinary boundaries and encourages interdisciplinary research, which is increasingly vital in addressing complex global challenges.
“Our postgraduate research students significantly contribute to research outputs, grant applications, and our overall academic community, positioning them as the next generation of researchers and academics.
“We are committed to nurturing the growth of this community and are optimistic about welcoming more postgraduate research students in future years, further strengthening our position as a university with a growing research profile.”
