HSU Celebrates New Intake of PG Cert Students in Health Sciences Education
Health Sciences University is thrilled to celebrate a new intake of students to its Postgraduate Certificate (PG Cert) in Health Sciences Education.
The course highlights our commitment to supporting and developing the next generation of healthcare educators. With demand for healthcare services increasing across the UK and globally, ensuring that our educators are well-equipped to meet the needs of the evolving workforce has never been more critical.
Designed in collaboration with local healthcare partners and industry professionals, the PG Cert in Health Sciences Education is tailored to address the growing challenges faced by clinical educators.
The course offers a comprehensive approach to improving teaching practices and enhancing educator competence, covering vital areas such as curriculum development, simulation and technology-enhanced learning, workplace supervision, and leadership in health sciences education.
Dr. Michelle Holmes, Senior Lecturer in Workforce Development, said: “This course provides an excellent opportunity for practitioners and educators to enhance their confidence and competence across a range of professions. Education and training are crucial for securing the future healthcare workforce, and this program supports practice educators in delivering top-tier supervision, mentorship, and practice-based assessments.”
Since its launch in March 2023, we have seen a diverse group of healthcare professionals join the course and graduates are already seeing the benefits. One explained: “it’s improved my practice significantly and my confidence” and another practice educator remarked “this will shape my future career.”
We are also proud to celebrate the first group of internal staff graduating from the PG Cert, which is part of HSU’s commitment to providing ongoing training and opportunities for collaboration, improving teaching practices that enhance student outcomes.
Tom Bennett, Head of Teaching and Learning at HSU, congratulated the graduates: “Congratulations to this outstanding group! I am eager to see how their newly acquired knowledge will impact their teaching and our curricula.”
Following the success of this course, HSU is excited to announce the launch of the PG Cert in Health Sciences Education at its London campus. This expansion will enable even more healthcare professionals to benefit from the innovative course offerings and strengthen the educator workforce across the UK.
