Are you a chiropractic student who wants to achieve an MSc in Chiropractic?
If you are studying chiropractic already but would prefer to obtain a BSc and MSc for registration in your home country or want a fuller research experience from your education to propel you into postgraduate research then the MSc Chiropractic course was designed for you. This two-year full-time degree allows current chiropractic students to transfer from their course at the end of the third year of study (equivalent to achieving a BSc qualification) to complete a full master of science degree. Some international students require this qualification to practice in their home country and so we have designed this route to support you.
You will build on your previous knowledge, undertaking research or service improvement projects and academic teaching alongside managing your own patients in the HSU chiropractic clinic.
Since the 1960s, we’ve been famous for educating chiropractors and we remain world-leaders in the field, known for our teaching expertise and cutting-edge practical facilities. As an MSc Chiropractic student, you will learn about signs and symptoms of disease, pathology and clinical reasoning through a series of clinical cases.

Our Foundation Year for Master of Chiropractic course offers a five year route to a chiropractic qualification, providing an additional year to support students with the skills required to progress into the first year of our Master of Chiropractic – MChiro (Hons) course at the HSU School of Chiropractic.

The MSc Chiropractic (pre-registration) is an intensive, full-time degree over two years where your previous knowledge will be used to develop clinical problem solving, diagnostic and reasoning skills alongside a programme of clinical skills development.

What you will learn
In a modern healthcare profession it is vital that you have the technical knowledge and a wide range of transferable skills including critical thinking, research skills, IT skills, communication skills and the ability to undertake continuing professional development, so we provide a blended teaching and learning approach to encourage you to develop as independent learners.
Our mix of traditional and innovative learning and teaching methods, such as seminars, workshops, tutorials, practical skills classes, e-learning, videos, quizzes and self-directed study, are combined to provide you with the best learning experience.
As part of the MSc Chiropractic course you will undertake an invaluable clinical placement under the supervision, guidance and support of a multidisciplinary team where you will continue your learning through experiential and reflective clinical practice.
During the placement you will manage your own patients, discussing their care with experienced chiropractors who will supervise and guide you. This process will allow you to be challenged and to develop your critical awareness, allowing reflection on your own practice and professional development in light of contemporary clinical research.
How you will be assessed
You will be assessed through a range of methods, including essays, written exams and coursework, individual and group work, presentations and portfolios along with direct observation of procedural skills and assessment of clinical competence in a practical setting.
The full Masters degree will be awarded to students who successfully complete all 180 CATS (90 ECTS).

The General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and European Council on Chiropractic Education (ECCE) recognised MSc Chiropractic course, is specifically designed for students currently studying a chiropractic course, but who wish to complete their studies with a postgraduate MSc qualification. An MSc may be desirable if you are considering a career in research or academia, or may be preferred by some national associations.

Students are normally expected to have successfully met all the learning outcomes at level 6 of the Health Sciences University Master of Chiropractic – MChiro (Hons) course (or an equivalent point within another chiropractic course) with a minimum of 2:2 classification before they may enrol on this course.

- Meet the minimum standards of English.
- Have a completed undergraduate degree from a UK university or a completed undergraduate degree which has been taught in a ‘majority English-speaking’ country. These are: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United States of America

Our current course costs for the MSc Chiropractic full time course for 2024 entry are per annum and are shown below.

Please note: that these fees are for the 2024-25 academic year only and may be subject to increase in subsequent years of study. Any increase will be in line with our Tuition Fees Policy but will not be more than 5%.
