Overview
Whichever area of psychology you’re interested in pursuing, achieving your ambitions begins with a solid understanding of the science of psychology. On this British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited course, you’ll learn to interpret and apply a broad range of relevant theory and scientific evidence to understand the complex interactions that take place in the mind and between people.
Working in small groups, you’ll study in a dynamic, stimulating environment, exploring the cognitive, behavioural and ecological approaches to psychology, as well as innovative approaches such as cyber-psychology and cognitive neuroscience. You’ll also have the opportunity to tailor your learning, focusing on health or counselling psychology, or to explore a broader range of topics if you prefer.
At HSU we have a strong reputation for putting scientific expertise at the centre of everything we do. We’re currently developing an on-site psychological services clinic that will offer our students first-hand insights into the real environments of psychology services. This will help you to develop practical skills and gain experience for your future career, maximising your employability as a graduate.

Course Details
The BSc (Hons) Psychology course seeks to develop your understanding of the core scientific disciplines within psychology. If you’re wanting to make an impact within the area of psychology, mental health, and the application of science to life, our course will be a fantastic benefit to get you to where you aspire to be.
You will learn through a variety of teaching styles, and will make the most of our on-site laboratory testing facilities, with more traditional coursework, essays, presentations, group work, and practical skills assessments.
With access to our Virtual Learning Environment, your education will be interactive and varied. Through quizzes, video tutorials, seminar notes and more you will be able to study whenever and wherever suits you alongside your core teaching.

Our approach builds on our renowned reputation and experience of running applied clinics in chiropractic and ultrasound.

Dr. Alyx Taylor is the Subject Leader for Psychology in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Dr Taylor is an Associate Professor of Physiology and a Chartered Psychologist.

Please note: that applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A*-C including Maths and English, or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above) to be considered for the programme.

BBB-BCC or above. General Studies will not be considered.

Distinction Merit Merit – Merit, Merit, Merit or above.
Access to HE Diploma
A total of 120-104 UCAS points in an Access to HE Diploma.
International Baccalaureate
Overall grade of 32-28 points or higher.

UK/ROI/Channel Islands and Isle of Man students – £9,250 per year
International – £16,560 per year
Please note: These fees are for the 2024-25 academic year only and may be subject to increase in subsequent years of study. Any increase will be in line with our Tuition Fees Policy but will not be more than 5%.
Additional course costs
